Hey, I'm Carrie!

Helping connect people with their purpose is my passion. Using my innate ability as a connector, I am most fulfilled when I am able to inspire action and curiosity in those around me.

As an experienced impact entrepreneur and idea junkie, I have spent years building and funding ventures in the business and nonprofit sector. I am the Founder of EmpowHERment, Inc. – a nonprofit organization empowering girls and women to lead, and the Founding Executive Director of GreenLight Fund Charlotte - a national venture philanthropy organization funding innovative social entrepreneurs with proven solutions to urgent community issues.

Professionally, I have experience working in the public, private and nonprofit sector. While building my professional career, I also worked hard to build a 7-figure investment portfolio because I strongly believe women of color must create generational wealth to drive more equitable outcomes. We don't need to just be on the front lines of community change, we need to be writing big checks, occupying board seats, and creating policies. My career experiences include roles with the United States Senate, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Driven by curiosity, my mom and I set out on a journey to visit every continent and after exploring more than 25 countries together over a decade, we accomplished our goal in Antarctica! These travel experiences, connecting with people, ideas and resources truly shaped my passion to empower more people to realize their full potential. My husband, Marc, is my other travel buddy and partner for life who's always down for an adventure! In 2021 we ventured into hotel ownership, started the rehab of our 100-year-old bungalow, and welcomed our greatest blessing - our daughter.

I'm loving the joyful chaos of being a wife, mom, and impact entrepreneur.

You can find me laughing with family and friends, watching sports (and talking trash), rehabbing homes, volunteering and exploring new countries. I have been featured in local and national media, and was honored as the 2018 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Woman of the Year in my home community of Charlotte, NC.

My faith, family, and friends keep me grounded as I continuously evolve.
